Dr. Mim Plavin-Masterman
Great strategy thinkers like Tom Peters have said “culture eats strategy for breakfast”. Organizations understand how critical culture is to their organization’s success, but struggle to achieve it. I was a strategy consultant and project manager for 8 years, in addition to my MBA and PhD. I can help organizations figure out what their cultural values are, and what they can do, depending on their goals.
Consulting Services
The work I do is based on the Competing Values Framework (Cameron and O’Quinn), in helping employees, teams and organizations understand and improve their ways of working, their underlying cultural values, and their performance. The CVF is supplemented by additional culture assessment instruments like the one shown here.
Competing Values Framework
The support I provide usually starts by understanding organizational and team cultures, group and interpersonal dynamics, actions and behaviors. These assessments serve four important and related purposes:
-
Help an organization’s people to speak effectively about culture
-
Accurately summarize the current working culture in the team, department, or organization, and
-
Accurately document and describe what the team and organization would like their culture to be.
-
Develop a plan to implement any needed cultural changes
